'Aint No Party Like a Zumba Beach Party!

There's this television show called So You Think You Can Dance, ever heard of it?

For the past Three years they have created a National Dance Day, the last Saturday in July. It is an attempt to get everyone around the nation to get up and start moving, together towards a healthier and passionate country. I personally follow this show weekly and have always wanted to participate in National Dance Day. A few weeks after the National Day of Dance, the TV show puts together a video montage from footage that people have sent in from all over the country (and sometime world). This year I thought, I'm in Maui, I want to represent Maui!

The TV show created 2 different routines for the public to learn and participate in. A harder hip hop routine or an "easy to follow Zumba routine." Say whaaaat?! The dance created for the Zumba dance day routine was already given to us from Zumba in our instructor's monthly choreography DVD. So I began to teach my Zumba classes this routine and we all planned to meet on July 28 on Ka'anapali Beach to perform the routine and film it for our TV show submission.

We didn't have the highest hopes for actually getting on the show, after all there were hundreds of video submissions. If anything, it was a great experience, we danced on the beach, and we all had a great time. The tourists even thought we were famous, with video cameras set up on us with professional looking cameras pointed at us the whole time. A few even came and joined in. A lady and her 1 year old. Two little girls who couldn't help themselves from dancing along side us. Tourists from outside the nation. A guy even wanted a photo with us claiming "I'm all the way from the Netherlands!" Gotta love Maui :)

So last night the show aired that showed footage of Dance Day from all over the nation...

WE GOT ON THE SHOW!!

For all of 3 seconds, we were featured representing "Hawaii" !!!! WE DID IT!! Wow, I can't believe it. This is so cool! My Zumba ladies were shocked and so excited! What a fun experience! Season 7 clocked in over 5 million viewers, and this is season 9, so there could only be more than that!

Here's some pictures and a link to see our video on youtube.com

Another beautiful view was given at Merrimans in Kapalua at the Wine bar/ Fire pit that over looks the very scenic Kapalua Bay. We were celebrating my best friend Toni's 30th birthday. The same birthday girl from the Masquerade Party, but this was on her actual birthday.

"Funny photo"
Notice the wedding going on in the back ground...
