A Run Full of Color & Palm Trees

The Color Run came to Maui! This run is referred to as the Happiest 5K on the Planet! The theme of this run came from India's Holi tradition called the Festival of Colors. This company used the awesome-ness of India's color festival to create an event incorporating fitness and fun! The Color Run is a for-profit organization that supports local charities in the cities their events take place!

Every kilometer, a group of volunteers throw a new color at you! The "color" is cornstarch and color dye. Yes, we breathed it in, got in our mouth, ears, nose, etc but it was relatively harmless :D

Finish Line!

We got rather colorful. I stuffed my hair into a hat hoping to not have to try to get the color out of my long blonde locks because... I had to work in a few hours :-/ I thought the color would easily come off with some water... it didn't. I spend a good 30 minutes in the shower scrubbing with a loofah, and then I introduced baking soda as a sort of salt scrub to get it off of my skin before work.

My work outfit is a dress above my knees and a tank-top style cut on top so a lot of my skin shows for how blue I was. Luckily, Jon wears a long sleeve nice shirt and long pants so he didn't need to scrub all of the color off for work. Little did his co workers or customers know that he was bright blue from the wrists up and had smurf-like legs underneath his pants :)
